I’m reading this great book, “The Power of Full Engagement” by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz. I’m only about halfway through, but I wanted to share a little something that I learned and put to use today.
The general premise is that we need to manage ENERGY, not TIME, to achieve high levels of performance in ALL areas of our lives.
“The number of hours in a day is fixed, but the quantity and quality of energy available to us is not. It is our most precious resource” (Loehr, Schwartz pg. 5). Think about it. Do you have certain times of the day where you can’t move fast enough…when you feel like you can take on the world? Then are there other times when despite your DESIRE to get stuff done, you just can’t?
I had a super early morning today. By 12:30 I was pooped. So I took a nap. I acknowledged that nothing was going to get done and lied down for 30 minutes. After waking up, I felt refreshed enough to get done what seemed impossible earlier.
How do you manage your energy?
