Ask yourself, “Does this make SENSE?”

I promise you that the timing of this post is a coincidence.

I started to follow a bunch of “health and fitness” pages on Facebook earlier this year. It’s fun to see what others are doing, what the trends are, what the BS is, maybe learn a few things…the gamut.

I’m not sure that it matters which one for my message here, so for now I won’t mention it by name.

A few times I have noticed them posting “eat this and you will get thin” or “no more wiggly arms – lose the fat there” -type stuff. I would tilt my head like a dog hearing a high-pitched noise and move on. Everyone makes a mistake once in a while, right? Maybe they just weren’t paying attention the day when they taught that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SPOT REDUCING. Your body will lose fat in the order with which it wants to…by the way…in my experience that is sadly usually in the reverse order that YOU want to lose it.

ANYWAY, the other day they posted this picture and I couldn’t just tilt my head and “scroll” away. This picture was posted without any explanation. No description, no details, nothing. If you know me, you know that coming up to me and starting a conversation with “Dr. Oz said” isn’t going to get you very far, anyway, but this was too much.

It is this type of RIDICULOUS information – on a HEALTH and FITNESS page – that bugs the hell out of me. You will NOT “slimdown” to “fit in a swimsuit” by drinking a cup of fruit juice and additional sugar found in honey. You will not.

You WILL, however, FEEL better and LOOK better by lifting weights on a regular basis.

They don’t have to be weights at the gym.

They can be at home, doing exercises that match YOUR ability.

Your goal doesn’t have to be to look like a bodybuilder.

How about these goals?…

  • Additional strength
  • Better posture
  • Stronger bones
  • A “toned” look (not my favorite term, but universally understood 😊)
  • Clothes that fit better
  • Additional confidence

I work with a lot of “beginners” to the strength training world and I wouldn’t have it ANY OTHER WAY.

THAT is exactly why I created the “Stop December Stress” workouts. It is a SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE and EFFICIENT way to get those strength training sessions in during the craziness of December.

…I really do promise that the timing is a coincidence, but it IS important that you get your health and fitness information from a source that you can trust.

I unfollowed the page.
