…I LOVE when I give advice that I don’t take myself.
The intent of the FORGET February Challenge (#FFC) is to KEEP YOU MOVING, right? It is to take this SHORT month and try not to let the cold and the dark get us down OR be an excuse to not do things.
I had been WORKING OUT the first 11 days…which is fine, but my body told me as I got up that it NEEDED a rest.
I’ve said before that REST is important. Your muscles need time to repair themselves to get bigger/stronger.
To continue with the challenge today I did what I call “Plank Halves”. Very simple:
- Do a plank for as long as you can…really pushing yourself
- Rest 10 – 20 seconds
- Do a plank for HALF the amount of time as the first one. (i.e., 2:00…then 1:00 OR :50…then :25)
- Rest 10 – 20 seconds
- Continue to do HALF the amount of time with rest breaks in between until your last plank is in the single digits (i.e., :09, :08, :07, etc.)
- To progress with this exercise, the next time you do it, try to make the first plank 10-20% longer than the last time
