…I went out running yesterday for the 4th time since my back has been better.  I ran 3.2 miles, .2 longer than before.  While I was out there, it hit me – once again – fitness is really about mental toughness.  Yes, I have to PHYSICALLY work hard to get back in shape, but just as much is about MENTALLY doing it.  Realizing that no, I am not “going to die” if I don’t stop running “right this second” and yes, the hill WILL end in JUST a few more steps and I’ll be able to breathe again.

Pushing beyond those obstacles is difficult.  For everyone.  Realizing that you CAN do it?  THAT is what it’s all about.  THAT is what working hard allows you to feel.

The next time you want to stop, STOP thinking.  Push yourself a little further.  Believe me, it’s worth it.
